We have had a great September so far, mostly lovely weather, and lots of fun family outings. We have settled into a daily routine, hectic juggling of kids and chores, until Iain and I settle onto the couch at the end of the day to watch some Entourage while I feed Violet her last 15 feedings of the day (I'm looking forward to the end of the cluster feeding!) She is a night owl just like her Mum, but fortunately sleeps at least 6 hours a stretch at night, and then we often have a nap after taking Bella to school.

Isobel was excited to get back to her Montessori school, and happy to see her old friends and make some new ones. This year she is the senior child, so she has taken on the leadership and teaching role with the younger children, which she loves. Her reading is coming along, and she keeps coming out with new facts she picked up at camp and school.
Last week we took a day trip up north to help our friends harvest the honey from their hives, which Isobel had been looking forward to since she first saw the bees in the spring. She must have eaten a pound of fresh honey, and was pretty wild by the end of the day, but it was an excellent learning experience. We prepared a 'report' for her to present to the kids at school, which she enjoyed.

This was the first year we went to the Locke St. Festival, now conveniently less than a block away. It was a great way to see what sort of activities, services and goods the local merchants have to offer, as well as the obligatory face painting (Bella got a butterfly) and bouncy castle. There was live music and some demonstrations by the karate and dance schools, and Iain had the further chance to chat up the guys from the organic farm who had a booth. We are really glad we bought a share in the farm this year, as we have had some of the most amazing fruits and veggies, although I'm a little sick of watermelon which we get at least 2 of a week. Iain spent Sunday canning tomato sauce with the bushel of tomatoes we bought, and I have enough concord grapes to make a batch of grape jelly. We were also given a tiny hot pink cocktail shaker and glasses (filled with "Cointreaupolitan") by two poor models in hot pink dresses and heels, and they are Bella's favorite new toy. Kind of an updated and inappropriate version of a tea set, I guess.

And Violet, she hasn't done much but grow and grow. At her 8 week weigh-in she was 12 lbs, 14 oz, an increase of 62% over her birth weight- she's huge! With all the eating she does I can't say I'm surprised, although her poop output is considerable as well! But she is getting less gross as time goes on, and now that she is smiling at us all the time its easy to love her. Isobel dotes on her, and Violet saves some of her biggest smiles for her big sister (despite all the poking and roughness!)
