Last Monday was the inauguration of Ontario's

new statutory holiday, "Family Day". As it turned out, we spent a lot of time with family (and friends) over the long weekend. We started out with a short visit with my Auntie DiDi, who was in town from near North Bay as her husband had a heart operation. Despite being my only relative out in Ontario, we don't get to see her as often as we like, in fact, usually we see her in BC! So despite the circumstances, it was great to see her and introduce her to Violet.
Then we had the usual almost-surprise visit from Iain's brother Rob, who was sort of in this neck of the woods for work. This was his first time meeting his newest niece, who took to him (and his beard!) right away. We always love a visit from "Uncle Robbie", and hope to see hima again sooner rather than later.
And since nothing was open on the holiday Monday, we spent a quiet day inside, trying to entertain each other. Isobel and Violet have developed a rapport, and Isobel delights in playing with her little sister and making her laugh. It is so sweet watching them play together.
