After 9 months of exponential growth, Violet has finally slowed down, holding firm at 22 lbs. She is still in the 95+% for height and weight though. But while she eats non-stop, she also never stops moving! Unlike Bella, who kept her crawling to a minimum, Violet is constantly on the move, and is in to everything. She approaches us, grabs our fingers and takes off whenever she wants to walk, we are hoping she will figure out soon that she can do it on her own. She uses any prop she can find, including her car, as seen below.

Violet is also doing well with her fine motor skills, she is right on target or ahead in all her milestones, and we are constantly surprised with how well she communicates, she has a "wah?" for every occassion. Lately she is all about sharing, even her food, holding it out to us with a nod and a "reuu?" This week she has started clapping, and is preoccupied with putting things in other things, like her toys in a box (or her food in her mouth!) She continues to be a very happy and affectionate baby, and likes to give kisses (open mouthed, unfortunately!) We finally got around to 'Ferberizing" her a couple of months ago, and now she can't stay awake past 8, leaving Iain and I a few hours to ourselves in the evening, and a good night's sleep.

The funniest thing about Violet is her need for stranger's attention, she will stare at them until they look her way, and then bestow a huge smile. If they don't look at her, she will call them in an increasingly loud voice until they do.I think she actually prefers middle aged men too, which is quite different to Isobel! She hasn't started yelling at strangers for food yet like she does to us, but its only a matter of time, I expect to be asked to leave Starbucks soon.
